Kent, Lorentz och Markus Krunegård

Det är länge sen jag varit riktigt inne i nån skiva. Jag vet inte om det beror på att jag blivit äldre eller om jag haft mycket att göra. Nu har det dock hänt nåt, jag har tre skivor som snurrar nästan hela tiden här i jobbet.

Kent - Tigerdrottningen

Den här skivan har redan hunnit vara ute en tid men jag gillade den inte riktigt i början. Tyckte den var onödigt dyster. Sen hände nåt och nu då jag lyssnade på den igen fastnade den ordentligt. Den känns minst lika bra som Jag är inte rädd för mörkret och ställvis för den tankarna tillbaka till lite äldre Kent. Det känns som att de lånat lite av sitt äldre material ibland, speciellt på Den andra sidan, men det är inte något negativt. De gör det med stil. De har också lånat lite av andra artister, introt till Skogarna påminner mycket om Robyns Dancing on my own. Skivan är rätt politisk, mer politisk än jag någonsin tidigare märkt att Kent skulle vara.

Lorentz - Kärlekslåtar

Per Sinding-Larsen hyllade skivan med följande ord: "Han är väldigt bra på att skildra något som borde skildras ännu mer i svensk musik och litteratur: Klubblivet och storstadsnatten. Lorentz är på sätt och vis sin generations Bellman." Lorentz som nu gör solodebut är kanske mera känd som ena halvan av Lorentz & Sakarias. Mitt bästa klubbminne någonsin tror jag måste vara då de uppträdde på Svenska Talande Klubben i Vasa i november 2009. Petski och Magnus stod för förhandssnacket och Lorentz och Sakarias gjorde dansgolvet till ett enda Mayhem.
Texterna har utvecklats sen dess och är mera personliga, en naturlig utveckling då man går från att vara en duo till en soloartist. Stämningen är som hämtad från en natt som aldrig tar slut, tiden flyter ut och är inte längre linjär. Man går från vanlig dödlig till odödlig kung över liv och död, livet blir ett dataspel ("Who are you?/ Whoever you want me to be/ Okay"). Mina tankar går oundvikligt till Harmony Korines Spring Breakers, där blev livet också till ett spel.

Markus Krunegård - Rastlöst blod

Markus Kurnegårds nya skiva Rastlöst blod är ganska olik Mänsklig värme som kom ut för två år sen. Krunegård har tagit ett steg tillbaka från det finputsade och in till sista detalj genomtänkta som den skivan presenterar för mig och ligger nu närmare det spretiga och impulsiva som fanns på Lev som en gris dö som en hund och Prinsen av Peking från 2009. Jag har inte riktigt hunnit ta in allt på den nya skivan och jag tror det beror på att den här skivan är lite svårare. Mänsklig värme var en grymt stor favorit för mig och den här nya skivan är rätt annorlunda. Men några pärlor har jag hittat. Texten i Hell Yeah Norrtälje är oslagbar och hur han leker med uttalet och fraseringen i Let's go nu är jag din yo kan man inte annat än älska.

Arcade Fire - Afterlife

Arcade Fire framförde en livevideo till Afterlife på YouTube Music Awards. Så bra låt, bra framförande och bra text att det är värt att blogga om :)

(Och samtidigt så sorgligt att det stockas i halsen)

Space Oddity

Så otroligt nice. En video till Space Oddity inspelad i rymden! Rymdromantikern i mig väcks till liv och tankarna går förstås till A Space Odyssey. Den absoluta höjdpunkten är vid 1:07 då gitarren svävar iväg genom luften. Magiskt.

The Brillmaster came, saw and conquered and left the world of indie music astonished, amazed and speechless (which is obvious if you look at the number of comments on the blogs). Brillmaster gave us the best of 2012 and no one objected. When the Brillmaster talks the world of indie music listens.

But the unanswered questions are still many. Does the Brillmaster really exist? Will he just suddenly appear one day on the Ollis´ dancefloor and create havoc as he makes the crowd go wild just like The Black Runner did or is he only a result of a way too lively imagination of Puttemans? Well, all I can say is that the answer is out there.

Brillmaster´s note: So this is it, what you all been wainting for the last 24 days! Brillmasters pick for the #1 spot is Kindness. It wasn´t an easy choice but in the end the only true competitor was Beach House. For me, listening to swinging party takes me to another universum! It´s such an fantastic atmosphere surrounding the song, you get drawn into it whether you like it or not. The Brillmaster loves it more than anything else in 2012! Without ANY doubt, the best song of 2012!

#2 Beach House - Myth

Brillmaster´s note: The Brillmaster almost pooped his pants the first time he listened to Myth. It was everything he had hoped for and far more. Continuing on the same sound they had on teen dream Beach House really managed to take everything one step further. The Brillmaster was paralyzed! It took him about 2 months before he realized how good the rest of the album was. Seeing them live at Berns was amazing and Myth was fantastic. Without any doubt worthy a top-2 spot

#3 Haim - Go Slow

Brillmaster´s note: Brillmastradamus expects that 2013 will be all about Haim. Three sisters from LA making the most beautiful pop music. It seems that "forever" is on many top lists of 2012 but for the Brillmaster everything was about Go Slow. I love the slow tempo of the song, the sweet singing and the groove that surrounds the hole song. As Puttemans noted earlier this autumn you should listen to this song with a good speakersystem! Without any doubt worthy of a top-3 spot!

Brillmaster´s note: The official soundtrack for Vasa! My gods my gods, the Brillmasters can´t find any words for his feelings. Yeah, now i´ve been trying to write something for 10 minutes but still it´s empty in my head. Lets just say, it´s the 4:th best track of this year. Without any doubt!

#5 Mando Diao - En sångarsaga

Brillmaster´s note: This years most unexpected album. The former garagerock band Mando Diao decides to go godnattsaga-mode and turns poems by Gustav Fröding to beautiful music. It was almost impossible to choose between en sångarsaga, strövtåg i hembygden, i ungomden and snigelns visa. En sångarsaga did in the end draw the longest straw and won by a horses noselenght. This song really takes the brillmaster to another place, a place where he likes to be.

Julmusik i Radio Helsinki & Evil Stöö

Jag har upptäckt att Radio Helsinki spelar ganska mycket julmusik i dessa tider och dessutom bra julmusik. D.v.s. inget alltför sliskigt eller klichéaktigt. Dessutom sådana riktiga 'pärlor' som KC/MD Mafias Gangstatonttu (med Eevil Stöö, Koksukoo & Pikku Herkko). Låten fick mig att tänka på tidiga Don Johnson Big Band då jag hörde den i bilen igår (och den satt väldigt bra i bilen, passade högtalarna och mörkret och kylan där ute).

Brillmaster´s note: Vasas pride! I have to say Cats on Fire really have with their latest record reached a state where they have found their own sound. If i have a soft spot for Mr Krunegård I also have to admit I have a soft spot for Matias Björkas voice! Really unique I have to say. And he is absoloutely fantastic on stage. Makes me think of an ostrich...

#7 Markus Krunegård - Korallreven och Vintergatan

Brillmaster´s note: I have to admit it, the Brillmaster has a soft spot for Markus Krunegård. From Laakso to Hets to his solo career there is, there is, something special with him. Something very special. I prefer the older Markus who made music that were much more raw and energetic but the new one isn´t bad either. With Korallreven och Vintergatan he has written one of his best songs ever! As always, fantastic lyrics! "Mänsklig värme snälla kom närmre".

Brillmaster´s note: This year has all been about Frank Ocean. I guess he´s on almost every list for the best musical acts of 2012. And he deserves that spot, a great album peaking with "pyramids". The Brillmaster somehow likes long songs and pyramid is good for almost 10 minutes! Just listen and enjoy!

#10 Anna von Hausswolff - Mountains Crave

Brillmaster´s note: When her album came out this summer the Brillmaster was totally blown away. I mean Totally! I was ready to declare the album as one of the best ever made! I still today think it´s a masterpiece, although I noticed I have to be in a special mood to enjoy it. What I like the most is the organs. Man I love organs! And on Mountains crave there are som big fuc*n organs! Listen also to "Deathbed" on her album and get ready for the apocalypse!

#11 Tame Impala - Elephant

Brillmaster´s note: Elephant isn´t inventing something new in music. Perhaps its more reinventing the 1970:s. But there´s no need for inventing new things when Elephant is such a piece of perfection as it is. Riding on a psychedelic feeling the song really gets into you. The best is although Kevin Parkers song, and how he somehow puts a delay on every word. And, by far the second best album cover this year!

#12 Burning Hearts - Into the Wilderness

Brillmaster´s note: I was first quite sceptic towards Burning Hearts. My companion, Puttemans, bought their record and recommended their music to me. Usually when Puttemans recommends something to me I tend to get hostile towards whatever it is. But not with Burning Hearts. And especially not with "into the wilderness". I love the base rytm, i love her voice, i love the lyrics and I LOVE the album cover! By far the best album cover this year, perhaps ever.
